Top-ported, return line filters are one of the most common configurations in hydraulic filtration.

Fluid is directed through the top of the filter, with inlet and outlet aligned above the element.

High Medium and Low Pressure Top Ported Filters in front of fluid

This high quality type of filtration is usually placed in line on the hydraulic circuit. Depending on the working pressure of the application, the filter is either placed before the application components or after.

Top-ported filters are found in an array of applications, such as:

Whether It’s Higher, Mid to Low Pressure, You’re in Good Hands with a Schroeder Filter

Schroeder Industries has designed and produced a wide spectrum of top-ported filters.

They range from:

  • Highest pressure (3000 – 6000 psi) to lowest setting in the industry (100 – 350 psi).
  • We also offer medium pressure (500 – 1400 psi) for an in between option.

We take great pride in creating fluid conditioning products that assure proper function of your equipment.

Throughout the decades, we have amassed a large number of customized options and converted them into standard catalog options.

It is rare for an option to not be readily available.

If that is the case, our agile engineering department can design customized filtration products to suit customer needs:

What Does a Hydraulic Filter Do?

As a refresher, further Hydraulic and Lube Filtration education can be found here.

In high pressure settings, the top-ported filter would be placed before the most sensitive components. This would apply an added layer of protection.

In low pressure settings, the filter is placed before the reservoir as part of the return filtration system.
